Günes Evrim, originally from Turkey and currently residing in Berlin, is a multifaceted artist and designer whose work transcends boundaries between art, science, and design. With a sustainable approach and a keen eye for aesthetic, Evrim created her brand “Sukurusu” in 2009 in Turkey, and gained recognition in the field by attending at many art and academy events.

Since 2022, Evrim stands at the Vice-president position of the leading international association of paper artists (IAPMA, eV.).

With the aim of expanding the brand and creating more opportunities for collaborations, she founded Sukurusu Purposeful Paper in Berlin in 2023.

Drawing inspiration from her experiences and surroundings, Evrim specializes in the creation of paper artworks tailored for commercial purposes. Her creations are imbued with a profound sense of storytelling, as she adeptly translates personal narratives and collective memories into tangible forms.

For over 15 years, Evrim has passionately explored the art of handmaking paper, seamlessly integrating it with various disciplines to push the boundaries of creativity. Recently, her focus has shifted towards the purposeful transformation of materials, driven by a commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

In her latest endeavors, Evrim seeks to harness the power of recycling as a tool for archiving, employing a holistic approach that reflects her deep understanding of the interplay between time, environment, and consumption patterns. Through her work, she endeavors to offer a visual and functional narrative that not only preserves elements of the past but also invites viewers to participate in a shared responsibility towards a more sustainable future.

Evrim’s artistic philosophy is eloquently captured in her own words:

“I focus on reincarnating the natural materials within paper and transforming them into visually and functionally compelling objects. Through these preserved elements of the past, I wish to give a visual experience of the shared responsibility of creating this transformative journey. This vital cycle can be differentiated, repeated, and sustained as places and people change, yet each one remains unique.”

With an unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability, Günes Evrim continues to inspire audiences worldwide with her captivating creations and visionary approach to art and design.
